I’ve always had an interest in drawing from life, especially forests and nature scenes. Sure, I’ve had a lot of teachers who convinced me that this method is super relevant, but also because it makes you mindful of how you interact with the world.

My fascination with Ukiyo-e and Impressionism also plays a big part in my love for drawing from life. Artists like Hokusai, Hiroshige, Van Gogh, or Monet focused on observation of real-life subjects, trying to capture the essence of reality and creating this sense of immediacy, like they’re capturing a moment in time.

Drawing from life isn’t about copying something; it’s about capturing what you feel when you see what’s there.
